Hello! My name is Melker, and I run Petror.se as part of my sole proprietorship alongside my law studies. I am 21 years old and opened the store in early 2023. Petror.se is mainly focused on geocaching supplies, but also sells items such as stamps and outdoor gear.
Geocaching and the story of Petror.se
I found my first cache 15 years ago, when I was six years old. Since that day, my family and I have been hooked, and geocaching will always hold a special place in my heart. So many walks, holidays, and bike rides have been made even better thanks to this wonderful hobby!
In 2012, when I was seven years old, my family and I decided to hide our first cache. At first, we didn’t really understand the coordinate system, so the cache ended up somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean... After a while, we finally got it right, and the “found it” notifications soon started rolling in.
It wasn’t until the summer of 2019 that I published my first completely self-made cache. It was a mystery cache that turned out to be extremely difficult, and I doubt that those who managed to log it found it particularly fun, which resulted in me archiving it after about a year. However, I became hooked on hiding caches, and it didn’t take long before I had hidden 10, 20, and even 30 containers in my local area.
Today, I have hidden over 100 caches, and I still find it just as exciting whenever my phone pings with a notification that one of my caches has been found.
In 2022, I realized that the geocaching scene in Sweden was missing a store that offered both a wide and affordable range of products. After a lot of work, this led to Petror.se being launched on March 16th, 2023.
At first, we only offered petlings and corks - hence the name “Petror.se”. Since then, the assortment has gradually expanded, and today the store offers over 100 products including various cache containers, logbooks, merchandise, tools, and other accessories such as tape, stickers, and magnets.
I run the company and store entirely on my own, and my main goal is not to make money from the business, but to inspire and help more people discover the excitement and joy of geocaching - and especially the joy of hiding their own caches.
Groundspeak distributor
Since August 2025, Petror.se has proudly been a partner and reseller of Groundspeak, the company behind Geocaching.com. This means we are authorized to sell official products such as Travel Bugs®, waterproof log strips, and merchandise. This gives Swedish, Scandinavian and European geocachers the opportunity to purchase official Geocaching products without having to pay unreasonable costs for customs and shipping.
